Gotcha

Tuesday was a bust, but Wednesday & Thursday were great Gotcha Days.  We took 2 more off the streets with help from our TNR friends.  A beautiful gray unneutered male missing all the fur on one ear from territory battles, and a female in heat.  Both fending for themselves out there.

The gray one, Miles, we were able to get into the vet immediately.  He is FeLV + and deaf!  Feline Leukemia is very contagious so those cats are difficult to place.  Thankfully he is very friendly, and one of our fosters has a FeLV+ kitty and was able to take him in.  That's rare.  It's not usually that easy, but we are so grateful when it is.

The tabby female went to a temporary foster home until her regular foster could pick her up today.  She is very friendly!

And today we took in the big black male with a huge head wound.  I think people are afraid to get involved because of the unknowns.  But it's what we do every day.  He is so friendly, and deserves better than a life on the streets. He will move to a temporary foster home tonight, and go to the vet tomorrow.

A surprise little kitten was also spotted and picked up today!  Maybe 3-4 months old.  She has some feral tendencies (she flew out of the carrier when I opened the door, and bounced around the room a bit, eek) but no hissing, growling or biting.  I was able to grab her and put her back into her enclosure without issue.  And she comes to the front of the enclosure, which is a very non-feral behavior.  So a bit of a mixture on this one!  She will be delivered to her foster mom in a bit for assessment.

The storms are coming in the next 48 hours, so we continue to pull in as many as we can.  2 more tote shelters went to volunteers today as well, for ones that are too feral to become indoor pets, or ones that simply haven't been trapped yet.  So many cats, so little volunteers.
